Due to display issue Volkswagen recalled 60,000 electric cars: Volkswagen is recalling more than 60,000 electric vehicles in the U.S. due to a display failure that could increase the risk of accidents. The issue prevents the gear position from being displayed correctly, which could cause the car to roll away if the parking brake is not applied.

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced the recall on Saturday, affecting a total of 60,490 electric cars. The affected models include certain 2021-2023 Volkswagen ID.4 vehicles and 2022-2023 Audi Q4 e-tron and Q4 e-tron Sportback models.

The issue was first identified in August after five cases were reported outside the U.S. The issue stems from a software flaw that failed to display certain gear positions correctly. NHTSA stressed the importance of quickly addressing safety issues like these to prevent potential accidents.

Volkswagen is taking steps to notify affected vehicle owners and implement a fix for the issue. The company is working on a solution to fix the software flaw and ensure that vehicles meet safety standards.

The recall follows another Volkswagen recall last month that affected nearly 30,000 vehicles. That recall was due to rearview cameras not displaying properly, primarily affecting the Audi Q3, Volkswagen Tiguan, and Arteon models.

As Volkswagen continues to address these software-related issues, vehicle owners are encouraged to stay informed and follow any recall instructions provided by the manufacturer.
