J.D. Vance’s Ski Trip in Vermont Takes an Unexpected Turn
J.D. Vance’s Ski Trip in Vermont Takes an Unexpected Turn: Vice President J.D. Vance may have been hoping for a peaceful weekend on the slopes, but his trip to Sugarbush Resort in Warren, Vermont, turned out to be anything but relaxing. Between a close call with another skier and a political jab from a fellow visitor, it was an eventful getaway.
Vance hit the slopes on Saturday, taking a break from his duties in Washington, D.C. A video obtained by TMZ shows a skier believed to be Vance making his way down the mountain. While he took a slow and steady approach, his technique appeared solid as he glided over the fresh snow.
However, things took a sudden turn when one skier collided with another nearby, nearly crashing into Vance. The skier managed to stop just in time, avoiding what could have been a serious accident a moment that likely had the Secret Service on high alert.
Adding to the drama, Vance was confronted by someone on the mountain who shouted, “How does it feel to be Putin’s puppet?” The vice president did not engage, simply offering a polite greeting before continuing on his way.
The comment was a clear reference to recent tensions surrounding the war in Ukraine. Just days earlier, Vance and President Donald Trump had a heated exchange with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the Oval Office. During the meeting, Vance suggested that Zelensky should be grateful for Trump’s efforts to seek a diplomatic resolution to the war, while also accusing him of being “disrespectful” for addressing the conflict in front of the American people.
Vance’s visit to Vermont didn’t go unnoticed by locals, many of whom staged protests against his presence. Signs at the demonstration ranged from calling him a traitor to making humorous comparisons between his intelligence and that of the state’s cows.
It’s worth noting that Vermont remains a stronghold for Democrats Kamala Harris won nearly twice as many votes as Trump in the state. With that in mind, it’s no surprise that Vance encountered some resistance during his trip.
While the vice president may have been on vacation, the weekend served as a reminder that politics follows public figures everywhere even to the ski slopes.
